Paris Fashion Week 2022: Is It Pretty In Pink?
By Suhotra Tripathi
As February approaches there is this certain quality to the air of Paris, or at least I've heard there is since I don't live anywhere near the City of Lights. Everyone got ready to greet the Paris Fashion Week, and now that it is over, I, a person whose wardrobe compromises an array of polo shirts from Amazon, am going to review one of the biggest fashion events across the globe.
Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of hot pink or Valentino for that matter, but what wouldn't I have had given away just to attend the Valentino show this season. The monochromatic show was a travesty of hot pink with black and white alternates in between. The collection included quite a lot of geometric silhouettes with extensive layering, making the monochromatic outfits stand out on their own. Comfort was a major element throughout the collection, with puffer jackets and sneakers quite prominent in Men's fashion. This was the highlight of Fashion Week 2022, and my personal favorite collection out of the lot.
Things got quite interesting when the Balenciaga Show was hit by a storm, I mean quite literally. The show opened with a blast as several models sashayed through a literal snowstorm, created by Demna. The show was an ode towards the ongoing war, reflecting upon the designer's personal trauma. The pieces included a lot of black with asymmetrical designs and heavily padded boots and tote bags. The show ended with two models walking out, one in a yellow tracksuit, and another in a blue dress, representing the colors of the Ukrainian Flag.
